Blood Glucose Curve In Cats

My 17 year old cat Zachary has had a lot of brown discharge from his nose for several days.?
He is due to go to the vet in a few days for a glucose curve as he is diabetic, and has not been well-regulated in the last year or so. He still drinks and pees more than he did, and his fur is dry and matted. His insulin has been adjusted repeatedly, and he still does not appear to be as well-regulated as he once was. His appointment is not for a few days yet, so I called to ask the vet call in a prescription for Clavamox to the pharmacy nearby (they are far from me, but the only vet I trust; otherwise I would just go there!) Anyway, I just began the Clavamox, And then I noticed that the discharge is now blood red, and appears mixed with mucous. Is this a greater cause for concern than brown discharge? Thank you for reading this.

Well, it sounds like he is still VERY unregulated with his BG (Blood glucose) levels. I work for a very talented feline only veterinarian who is awesome! One thing that may help with the discharge and may help decongest him would be putting him in the bathroom with you while you are taking a hot shower. That can sometimes help them clear up the “crap” that is up there. Clavamox is an excellent antibitotic, however you must be very careful that he is still eating (being that he is diabetic) for Clavamox can upset the stomach a lot of times. If I were you, I would try to get him into see someone immediately, being that its Christmas Eve, that would probably be some time Friday. Good luck with your baby!
Ps I forgot to mention that sometimes cats dont respond to a particular insulin after a while, this may be the case for Zachary! Suggest this to your veterinarian.
