Drinking Water Before Glucose Test

What to expect…3 hour Glucose test…?
I have my 3-hour Glucose test tomorrow and I’m wondering what I have to do. They didn’t give me any information. I have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing. Is there any fasting that has to be done? Am I allowed to drink anything like water? I think the reason I failed the first one is from drinking a mountain dew before I went to the doctors. So can you give me any info on what to I can or can not do in the morning? Thank you.
I wasn’t going to drink mountain dew in the morning. I was talking about if I could drink water. I usually wake up really thirsty.
You are supposed to fast at least 12 hours. They will give you a super sugary drink (like they did with the one hour) almost right away. I don’t know why they say it’s a 3 hour because it actually last four. Anyway, they will take your fasting glucose the first hour, and 3 hours, once an hour until they get four blood draws. You should be fasting so make sure you bring something for after the blood draws because you will be very hungry. It is okay to drink water. It contains no sugar but avoid anything else until after your four hours are up. I’m surprised they didn’t talk to you about this. They usually explain the procedure.
