Fainting Glucose Tolerance Test
I’m having an EEG tomorrow….?
I fainted or had a seizure the other day. Not sure which one. I had a Glucose Tolerance Test done today and am having an EEG tomorrow. If it doesn’t show anything the doc is gonna do a CT Scan. Just wondering what an EEG consists of & what kind of info it gives you. Thanks!!
EEG’s are very easy, very relaxing tests. No pain, no needles, no medications. You’ll lay there while the technician parts your hair and marks your head with a special pencil. Then, on the marks they made, they’ll apply several dozen electrodes with this slightly sticky stuff. Once all of the electrodes are properly placed, you just lay there and let the tech’s do their work. The electrodes will measure your electrical brain waves. The worst part of the test for me was when they put a strobe light in front of me. They do this because people with epilepsy can have seizures due to flashing lights. They actually want you to have a measurable reaction, so that’s why the use this stimulus – to provoke a reaction to be measured. After about 30 minutes of testing, the tech’s will remove the electrodes and wash your hair….then you’re done. I’ve had several EEG’s and I promise you, it’s cake.
