Glucose Concentration In Urine
Whats the absence of glucose in the urine of normal individuals with reference to blood glucose…?
and insulin concentrations?
I’m not sure exactly what you are asking. But if you are wondering why glucose is not normally found in the urine.
Glucose is actively reabsorbed in the loop of Henle. If there is to much glucose in the blood there is not enough cells to reabsorb, so that there will by glucose in the urine.
This can be caused by
1) not having enough insulin to pack the glucose out of the blood.
2) having a massive amount of glucose in the blood, that can not be packed away by insulin in time.
Glucose can be determined in the urine by either a urine test strip or using Benedict’s solution. A colour change will indicate the presences of glucose.
hope that helps.
