Glucose Monitoring Forms

Type 1 Diabetic, Home birth?
Hi i am 6 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby, im an insulin dependant diabetic who has tight control of my blood sugars, with the other 3 pregnancies i was induced at 38 weeks as that is the way my hospital deal with diabetic pregnancies. During those labours i have never required the glucose or insulin drip (IV) as my sugars run around 4 to 5 mmol/ls. All my pregnancies have been trouble free and apart from the inductions i have required no other forms of medical intervention. As this will be the last time i will get pregnant i would love to go until baby is “fully baked” and let myself go into labour when baby is ready, but i also want the freedom to move around, not be strapped to the foetal heart monitors. Id love to have a home birth but as im diabetic i cant really see thia happening.
Has anyone had a home birth who is diabetic? Or do you know someone?
Id like to know if my dream will be for filled
Thankyou in advance
It is unlikely that you will find any GP or midwife willing to allow you to take the risks of a home birth.
Believe me if, as I have, you have seen a healthy mum with past normal pregnancies and a trouble free pregnancy bleed to death in a fully equipped hospital while receiving blood transfusions and with a full obstetric team struggling to help her, you would think long and hard about wanting a home delivery!
