Blood glucose?

I had a blood glucose test las week .This morning i had a letter telling me to go and have a glucose tolerance test ..I rung my surgery to see what the result was but they are closed .Can you tell me how high have your numbers got to be before they send you for a glucose tolerance test? I am in th UK

It sounds as though your blood glucose test may have been borderline and this is why they want to perform the more sensitive glucose tolerance test.
A fasting blood sugar in a non diabetic would be below 7.0 mmols and a glucose tolerance test should be below 11.1.
In the UK a diagnosis is not usually made on the basis of one test result and this may also be why they are wanting to do a second test. Good Luck
