Is subclinical diabetes dangerous to your health?

I have read that it’s a form of DM that’s evident only during pregnancy or severe stress. However, I am confused since another definition states that it is the former name of impaired glucose tolerance test that shows an abnormally high glucose tolerance test but not high enough to be called DM. Pls help

it is now called metabolic syndrome and is a precursor to developing type 2 diabetes.
