Do your baby a favor and don’t fight this diagnosis. A blood sugar of 190 is dangerously high for the baby no matter that it was going down at the 2 hour mark. You need to take the steps to keep it below 130 at your peak. All diabetics will have times when they are “normal” and it doesn’t mean they aren’t diabetics, just that it’s controlled at that time.

Don’t sweat being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. You will be given help in the form of nutritionists, diabetes educators, and possibly an endocrinologist. They will help you learn to measure your blood sugars, and eat in the correct way to keep those sugars down. You might need to use insulin, but it’s only for a short time and it will assure you have a healthy baby, so it’s worth it. Good luck!
