How many molecules of ATP would be produced from oxidation of 2 molecules of glucose in cellular respiration?
well if a cell uses the glycerol 3-phosphate shuttle one gets 2 X 36 = 72 ; however if a cell uses the malate /aspartate shuttle one gets 2 X 38 = 76 ATP. this is an example of the Pasteur Effect where aerobic respiration yields 18 to 19 times more ATP than what is produced in anaerobic conditions ( glycolysis alone )
