Advice on using minimed’s continuous glucose monitor…?
Is there anything that will help with keeping the cost low, since my insurance won’t cover the cost? Has anyone worn it for more than the recommended 3 days? Any other advice on using it? Thanks from the eagerly awaiting owner of the pump and cgm -3 days till it arrives!
I wear a similar device – and what helped me to make up my mind is a yahoo group called diabetescgms. There’s lots of information posted – including, usert tips and tricks and info on how to appeal your insurance’s denial. From what I understand, most people who’ve had it covered by insurance have had to appeal about 3 times. Also, if you request it, medtronic will provide you with some back up studies to provide to your insurance proving that the device is useful to diabetics.
