what causes glucose in the urine
Any doctor here to explain what are ketones and why I have them in my urine?

I have traces of ketones in my urine, although I can’t tell if they are small, medium, or large because it was done by a lab and the results do not specify. I tested negative for glucose and protein in my urine. I looked through several websites that claim that conditions such as fasting can cause ketones in the urine. I was fasting for about 12 hours prior to having taken the blood test, which is also when they gave me the urine test. Is fasting the culprit? What does it mean that I have ketones but no glucose or protein in the urine?

Ketones are released when your body has to break down fat for energy – instead of carbs. So yes, fasting can cause them to show up.
